Awards Description

Why an Internet Advertising Competition?

The IAC Awards provides an opportunity to highlight your best online advertising in 96 industries and 9 online formats including, online ad, video, mobile, newsletter, email and social media.

According to eMarketer, digital advertising reached more than $77.37 billion in 2017 and surpass TV advertising for the first time. As spending increases, creative agencies need ways to objectively demonstrate to advertisers their ability to create outstanding online marketing materials. Winning awards is one excellent way to accomplish this.

The Web Marketing Association (WMA) was founded in Boston in 1997 to help set a high standard for Internet marketing and corporate web development on the World Wide Web. Staffed by volunteers, this organization is made up of Internet marketing, advertising, PR and design professionals who share an interest for improving the quality of advertising, marketing and promotion used to attract visitors to corporate Web sites.

In 1999, the Web Marketing Association decided to create a new award program to recognize outstanding online advertising in all of its various forms. While many advertising award shows had a category for online, no program was dedicated to it.

So using the experiences from its highly successful WebAward competition for website development, the WMA created an award program where companies and individuals could enter their best work to be judged against other work in its own industry. The IAC Awards were born.

Now more than ever, marketing on the Internet is a competitive environment. Corporate marketing and Internet professionals constantly need to validate their efforts and provide clients and senior management with independent feedback as to the quality of the work being performed. Clients see quality in “award-winning” advertising and a list of awards can help to draw new clients to a firm seeking to establish or maintain its expertise in new media advertising on the Internet.

Read the Competition guidelines to get a better idea of how the competition operates and then create a nominators account and enter your ad and/or campaign into the 2018 Internet Advertising Competition.

All winners will have their entry highlighted on the Internet Advertising Competition web site and an on a personal award page that recognizes all of the participants on an entry. The winners in each industry will also receive a handsome trophy to display or a personalized Certificate of Achievement. They will also earn the right to say they have created “award winning” online advertising!

The Internet Advertising Competition (IAC) Awards were developed by the Web Marketing Association to honor excellence in online advertising, recognize the individuals and organizations responsible for creating work, and showcasing the award winning Internet advertising.

Who may enter

The Internet Advertising Competition is open to all organizations and individuals involved in the process of developing all forms on Internet advertising. Ads eligible for entry must have run at some time during the period from January 1, 2017 until January 31, 2018.

The person submitting the entry will be considered the “nominator” and will receive all communications regarding the Awards and will be the only person allowed to make changes to the entry data once it is submitted. You do not have to be a member of the Web Marketing Association (WMA) to enter the Internet Advertising Competition Awards.

What to submit

Entries must be accessible online via a single URL. Entries must be submitted online using the official IAC Online Entry Form. To access the entry form, you first need to create a free nominator account. This account will allow you to enter multiple entries without having to reenter your personal contact information each time and will be central point of communications about your entries.

Entries should be submitted on a single HTML page containing your creative and/or each element of the campaign or a URL leading directly to the website or creative element. The page may be password protected (provided you enter this information on the entry form) and available to the IAC judges. The HTML page must show the creative to be judged for that entry only. However, entries may also include a link to a page showing how the entry was displayed in use if available. It is important that the judges be able to determine exactly what creative is to be reviewed with each entry so it is advisable to include direct links to the creative rather than a single page for all of the organization’s entries.

Entries not containing a valid URL link to the entered ads may be disqualified. An advertisement is considered entered after a completed Entry Form is logged by the WMA server and payment of the entry fee is received by the WMA prior to the competition deadline. When an entry is processed, the nominator will receive an email receipt confirming the entry and it will be reflected in the nominator account.
