Awards Description

The Awards night

In April 2017, Whatuni held its annual Student Choice Awards in London based on reviews by over 26,000 students. The awards were presented by comedian David Mitchell and saw UK universities gain recognition across 12 categories.

This year, the awards will be held at The Brewery, London, on Thursday 19th April 2018. We are delighted to announce the inclusion of three new categories, please see below for further details.

The Categories

Now in their fifth year, the WUSCAs offer prospective students an unbiased, student-led alternative to traditional university ranking systems. The awards are based on averages taken from tens of thousands of reviews submitted by students and published on Whatuni.com. They cover the following categories:

  • University of the Year
  • Accommodation
  • City Life
  • Clubs & Societies
  • Course & Lecturers
  • Job Prospects
  • Student Union
  • Uni Facilities
  • Student Support
  • Giving Back
  • International (based on the overall rating given by international students at each university)
  • Postgraduate (based on the overall rating given by postgraduate students at each university)

New for 2018

This year we have also introduced the following categories:

  • The Independent Higher Education Award
  • The Further Education College Award
  • Best Prospective Student Engagement Award (submission based)

Judged by our Student Advisory Board, the ‘Best Prospective Student Engagement Award’ is all about innovation. We’re looking for initiatives that help students make the right decision regarding university, target under-represented groups or ensure that the student voice is genuinely reflected in their campaigns. Please click below to download an application form and for full details of the awards criteria.

With these additional categories we aim to reflect the diversity of HE in the UK, offer prospective students insight into a range of different institutions and celebrate student satisfaction across the board.
