Awards Description

The Roses Creative Awards recognise the very best creativity in advertising, design and digital. Each year sees the best regional agencies compete for a gold, silver or bronze accolade, awarded by our prestigious judging panel. This year The Drum is more determined than ever to use its global platforms to promote the amazing talent that exists beyond the M25, and we need your entries to no doubt help us prove; there is a life outside London!

Anyone producing great creative work is eligible to enter, provided your headquarters are based in the UK or Ireland but outside London’s M25. Including: Advertising Agencies, Design Consultancies, Digital Agencies, Direct Mail Companies, Production Companies, Marketing Agencies, PR Consultancies, In-house Creative Teams, In-house Marketing Teams, Media Buying Agencies etc.

The 2017 awards saw the Grand Prix awarded to Leith Agency for their work with Irn Bru and the coveted Chairman’s trophy, awarded by head of the judging panel Trevor Beattie, went to Content OD for their Animation for Pause project.

Who Can Enter?

Anyone producing great creative work provided your headquarters or your clients headquarters are based in the UK or Ireland but outside London’s M25.

Including: Advertising Agencies, Design Consultancies, Digital Agencies, Creative Agencies, Direct Mail Companies, Production Companies, Marketing Agencies, PR Consultancies, In-house Creative Teams, In-house Marketing Teams, Media Buying Agencies, Freelancers etc.

What is Eligible?

Material entered must have been published, displayed, broadcast or mailed between 5th February 2016 and 10th February 2017.

Work that was previously entered in the Roses Creative Awards is not eligible.

How Much Does it Cost to Enter?

First entry: £175 + VAT
Additional entry: £99 + VAT

Members of The Drum Network receive a 10% discount off the entry fee

You may enter as many categories as you like, however each entry must be treated as a separate entry and payment made for each.

How Do I Enter?

Download the Entry Pack.

  • Register and create an account OR log into an existing account (from previous entries)
  • Decide what categories you are going to enter, you may enter as many categories as you like but each must be treated as a separate entry and payment must be made for each.
  • To add an entry, go to the dashboard in the menu at the top of the page and choose ‘My companies’ from the drop down. On the next page, choose or add the company you would like to enter on behalf of and then click ‘Add an Entry’ from the option.
  • Add a short description of no more than 60 words as an overview of the project. In the event your entry is nominated, this text will be used on the website to give insight into the project.
  • With each entry as well as your 60 word summary for the website it is advised to write a short 100-300 word summary/rationale to explain the basic thought process behind your entry. You will not be judged on this. Often judges ask for more details about certain entries and this ensures they have that information to hand. This should be converted to pdf and uploaded in the ‘entry report’ section.
  • Upload hi-res images of your work (this is important as these images are shown online and during the show if nominated) and any supporting YouTube or Vimeo video URLs.
    Please note: At least one image must be uploaded (file limit 10MB. Accept jpg, gif or png files). The first image will be used in listings of entries and on the night of the ceremony in the presentation.
  • Once you have uploaded all of your entries, go to the dashboard in the menu at the top of the page, chose ‘My Companies’ again from the drop down, chose the company whose entries you wish to pay for. add all to your basket and proceed with payment from there.
  • Once payment is processed you will be sent a confirmation email and a receipt will be sent to your accounts department.
  • If you would like to make any changes to your entry, please do so before you submit as changes cannot be made after this stage.
  • All entries must be made by the deadline on Friday 9th February 2018.
    Please note: You will only receive the second entry rate discount if you enter all your submissions at once. Otherwise you will be charged the full amount each time. Leave your entries in your basket until you are sure they are all complete

Entries must be submitted and paid online once this has been done you must supply your work in the following formats.
All hard copies must include an individual entry form attached to each entry.

Please submit mounted artwork OR physical products.
Mounted artwork: Maximum board size A2 – maximum 2 boards
Physical products: Please send in any physical products for judging such as packaging, books etc.
Please note: Products will not be returned.

Upload your file to Sound Cloud (if you haven’t done so already) and copy the embedded code into the box provided.
Please upload as pdf or email your script to

Mounted artwork is not required.
Upload the YouTube embedded code on the website with your entry plus 3 screen grabs/stills.

Entry Rules

Category rules

1. A campaign is made up of three or more entries except a television campaign which is made up of two entries.

2. Only entries with a minimum media spend of £3000 will be accepted. Adverts not meeting the criteria may enter; ‘Low Budget’ or ‘Charity Ad’. The only exceptions to this are adverts carried out as a ‘one-off’ for a major client, which may be entered into any category as appropriate.

3. Best charity advertisement can be of any advertising or direct marketing discipline.

4. These categories will only accept single entries (adverts) not campaigns as a whole. If you want to enter multiple adverts into these categories, you will need to pay for the individually.

5. Integrated Campaign is made up of 3 entries; above the line, 1. Digital and 1 other of any discipline.

6. Maximum spend of £3000.


General rules


  • All entries must be supplied in the format stated in the “How to Enter” section.
  • The judges reserve the right to re-allocate entries into other categories where they feel necessary. The judges also reserve the right to remove categories that aren’t strong enough to have work nominated. These entries will not be refunded as they will have been judged accordingly with the rest.
  • The organisers reserve the right to retain entries for subsequent publication/exhibition in relation to the awards.
  • No feedback will be given relating to individual entries.
  • The judge’s decision is final.
  • If you do not abide by the rules, which results in a cost to the organisers, then the submitting company is liable for costs.
  • Each entry must be treated as a separate entry and payment must be made for each.
  • Entering work is at your own risk – entries will be returned. Whilst every care will be taken in the storage of entries, the organisers will not accept responsibility for loss or damage of entries.
  • All entries submitted should conform to the British Codes of Advertising and Sales Promotion. Any entry that has a complaint upheld against it by the Advertising Standards Authority will be disqualified.



Entry Conditions

  • Once entries are submitted, they will go forward for judging and cannot be amended.
  • Entries must be paid before the judging date. Entries not paid for will be taken out the judging process and therefore, the awards.
  • After judging, entries cannot be withdrawn and refunds cannot be given.

Private Media / Entry Report

With each entry as well as your 60 word summary for the website it is advised to write a short 100-300 word summary/rationale to explain the basic thought process behind your entry.

You will not be judged on this. Often judges ask for more details about certain entries and this ensures they have that information to hand.

What to include:

– Purpose – The client and what element of their campaign it was for

– Budget

– Method of output – Where it was displayed

– Results – Any increases it generated for the client

This should be converted to pdf and uploaded in the ‘Private Media’ section.

NOTE: this is not essential

How Will my Entry be judged?

After the entry deadline the judging panel will be given access to review online entries prior to the judging.
We then gather together for 2 days of judging in March. Judges spend time reviewing the physical and digital entries as a group and decide amongst them who wins the awards.

Tips for entering

  • Give each entry a unique title to grab the judges interest – try to avoid generic names.
  • When writing your summary don’t assume the judges have seen the work or campaign, always try and paint a clear picture of the idea behind the creative.
  • If not commercially necessary please do not add additional password protection.
  • Please include usernames and passwords, if required, for the judging.

When Will the Nominations be Announced?

Nominations will be announced on Monday 29th of March.
